We’re in the News!

The Boca Raton Forum recently posted a nice article about Field of Flowers.  We are very proud of our designers and their designs…

The Annual Social Directors’ Roundtable, a gathering of social directors at country clubs throughout South Florida, held their annual event at Maggiano’s of Boca Raton. Highlighting the event were centerpieces donated by Field of Flowers.

Social directors from Aventura to West Palm Beach met to discuss ways of encouraging the public to use the country clubs as venues for their weddings, anniversary parties, quinces and other milestone events and parties.

“More than 50 people representing more than 30 country clubs came to this event,” said Linn Bak, major accounts coordinator for Field of Flowers. “It was an ideal way to showcase our creativity and make a great impression on the club directors.”

Field of Flowers designers were given the opportunity to be imaginative, and the result was a wide variety of centerpieces and room décor. “This was exactly what the planners had in mind,” said Bak. “They encouraged us to go ‘all-out’ and we did just that.”

“This was a great group of people, dedicated to making special events truly unique and memorable,” said Donn Flipse, president of Field of Flowers. “We were happy to support their efforts and show them how extraordinary flowers and creative centerpieces fit that mission perfectly.”

Flowering Facts: Roses and their colors…

Roses by the bunch in many colors at Field of Flowers

Roses have been present on earth for millions of years.  Montana and Oregon have some rose fossil records dating back some 35 million years.  The rose flower has the most complicated family tree of any known flower species and has over 30,000 varieties.

Historically, roses have been used in incredibly extravagant ways.  Cleopatra once received her beloved Marc Antony in a room literally knee deep in rose petals.  The Romans thought nothing of carpeting their huge banquet halls with rose petals.

The rose is a popular design theme for china, clothing, carpets, tapestries and more.  The rose inspires fashion, interior design, sculpture, architecture and music.  There are over 4,000 songs written about roses.

There is nothing quite like a vase of fresh roses.  Available in countless color tones, each cultivar has a personality of its’ own.  The variations in shape, size, petal count, fragrance, opening performance and stem length make each rose unique.

The language of roses is expressed in the different colors.  Love, affection, friendship, thankfulness, joy and other emotions are represented by rose colors.  Red roses show love, passion and respect.  Pink roses communicate happiness, appreciation, admiration, friendship and sympathy.  Light pink roses denote grace, joy and gentility.  Dark pink roses are to signify thankfulness.  Lavender symbolizes love at first sight and enchantment.  White roses signify spiritual love and purity. Yellow roses show care, friendship, joy and gladness.  Coral roses imply desire.  Peach roses indicate modesty.  Orange roses display enthusiasm, desire and fascination.

For an elegant and casual look, take a rectangular vase and cut roses so that the head is just above the top of the vase.  Use enough roses to create a full arrangement.  Insert bear grass to add interesting lines.  A grouping of three vases can be done.  Use other flowers in the same color tones or use different colors of roses for a stunning display.
